So i'm gonna love you
February second...Everyone is saying that January is just a trial run to get their lives together. But why does someone need a new number at the end of the year's date to change themselves?
Working on yourself is an "always" thing. You should never stop working on yourself to make yourself a better person. Sometimes it's hard and you convert back to everything you wish you weren't. For example, I keep working out, but one rest day leads to a rest week or month. I can get my life together at three in the morning and have absolutely everything planned out for the week, but I can fall out of that as soon as I wake up.
Last year I really started working on myself, I started raising my grades, I started working on my fitness, I started cutting out bad habits and bad friends, and this year will most likely be a really selfish year. I'm making my priority myself for once.
Billy is asleep on my couch right now. He's supposed to be catching up on his English assignments that are already three months late.
It's all starting to hit us, all of us are starting to fall to school. College applications are now open, all of us are fumbling to find colleges that can fit us and we can fill the requirements to get in.
It'e stressful, this is our last year together. We only have a few months to get everything together. I have my trip to Europe right after graduation, But then it's straight to college with only two weeks at home in between. Some of us might not even graduate this year, to many are falling behind because of the stress and the work load.
I'm falling behind, but i'm catching up. At least I'm trying to.
Where She Went Review
I went away for a week where there was no WiFi which ended up with me in a bookstore buying this sequel that nowhere near my house had in store. So i'm doing a review on it since I haven't done any reviews in quite a long time.
Title: Where She Went
Author: Gayle Forman
Series: If I stay #2
Publisher: Penguin Group
Year: April 5, 2011
Genre: Young Adult
Awards: Goodreads Choice Awards best young adult fiction
Sequel to 'If I stay' that was released in 2009 follows Adam's life three years after Mia's accident and she walked out of his life. "Adam is now a rising rock star and Mia is a successful cellist re-unite in New York after Mia's terrifying accident."
Reaction after finishing
Happy dancing, I want another one, I want to re-read If I stay
Thought process when I realized there was a sequel
The thing with this book was, this was the ending to the books, the ending to Mia and Adam, one of my favorite character pairings in a long time. I know that Gayle Forman tends to tear into the hearts of her readers with her writing, which is what happened with me when I read this book in record time.
I still don't know whether or not I like the ending. At first, I absolutely hated it. It didn't make sense to me, the whole last chapter, especially the last page, was a huge WTF moment for me. You can't just go through two books of angst and end it like that.
But after a bit to think about it, I didn't hate it as much. They got their happy ending, even if it wasn't the one that I overly expected. They end up back together, and the whole novella takes place over the span of three days, except the last chapter which follows them in a brief summary of two weeks and their plans for the rest of the year.
Since i'm neutral on the ending now, when people who I've recommended the duo to say "that's not the ending I wanted" I can only tell them "At least she didn't end it with them breaking up and walking away from each other"
I'm more..into the ending now. I don't think I would have wanted another book of them getting back together...I'm on the fence about wanting another book of them trying to manage both of their careers and still being together, I want more on Adam's new solo career...How Mia influences his music. As he no longer works with the band or writes music with them. And he only writes songs about people who make him sad, which is how he wrote most of the music for the band's major debut album that helped them skyrocket into fame. It's been a few months since I've read the book and I have the urge to read more about them. But I can handle Lulu and Willem for now.
I finally got things done, I went for my first spring walk down the trail and was eaten alive by mosquitoes, I caught up on the 100, I went and saw Romeo and Juliet, I picked up my new bunny (Coco) and had Starbucks for the first time in months since Target shut down in Canada...I also found time for this blog again.
I just got home from Quebec after four days away on a skiing/snowboarding trip.
We left on Friday at 8:15 in the morning, all of our stuff almost didn't fit on the bus and our driver was incredibly sassy.
We stopped at an OnRoute on the way during the six hour drive. We got to Bromont around five, and it was nice, the mountain is small, but not crowded. And there are a lot of boarders there, and the food is good. everyone excited to have beaver tail and poutine in the small chalet.
We ended up grocery shopping right after so we could stock up on snacks before we got to the Orford arts centre...which wasn't my favorite place to stay.
The food was bad -save for a few items- the sinks were in the bedroom and not in the bathroom, there was major calcium buildup on the shower heads and the toilets wouldn't flush. there were fridges in the downstairs rooms but they ended up being more like freezers and necessary. The pillows provided were stained and gross, the tv in the common room looked like it was from the eighties and didn't work, and the couches looked terrible and even worse than the pillows. Some of the keys they gave us didn't work and one of the beds broke due to not being put together properly.
Mont Orford was decent, though it was really busy and there was one snowboarder per twenty skiers. It's a big mountain with good runs, though it was really crowded and a lot of the people were really rude to my friends and I. they gave us mean looks and said snarky things to us...most of which I could only understand a few words of. They also had no concept of personal space, whether it be in the chalet or on the mountain.
There were newbies on the black diamond runs doing a heel stomp all the way down. people standing on the top of the jump blocking the way for other riders. there were people cutting others off and causing accidents or someone ending up going into a bad part of the run, there were people ending up in moguls because the signs were knocked over and covered completely. The lifts and gondolas were well maintained though, despite a lot of grafitti in them.
Overall it was a good trip and I preferred Bromont over Orford, but it was still fun. And I'm glad to be home.
Exams are finally over as of today, I have until Monday to do absolutely nothing and i'm deciding to do my monthly favorites again -after going on a very long hiatus with it on my previous blog that this one has taken over- It's been months since I last made one of these, and that's how long I have had a few of these things.
From image number one:
The past week has been absolutely weird, especially since it's been exam week.
I had been feeling under the weather when I went in for my law exam on Friday, but everyone around the room had been sick, which transferred to me. Cold season is absolutely terrible when you have a million assignments to get done and handed in along with doing your exams.
Everyone is sick and crying in the hallways due to not having time to do everything to get their stuff finished, they're scared that they're going to fail, and they have a terrible mark going into the exam -like I did when I walked into my law exam. My teacher failed to put my lobby assignment mark into the computer and it dropped my mark by 15%-
With being as sick as I have been over the passed few days, I've been having those days where I couldn't actually get out of bed in the fear that my stomach would give out while I moved, my laptop finally left me in the midst of finishing my french assignment, which I then had to redo on the computer that my parents use. My niece has been out of sorts after getting a bug from her daycare.
My Francais teacher gave me the wrong level of exam and I had to do the higher level even though I shouldn't have. Thank goodness she told me that I did really good. I can't afford to fail a class.
